Pens go for third straight victory vs. Rangers

Jaromir Jagr and the Ranger are coming to town tonight. New York has struggled early this season. The Rangers do this a lot, they sign big name free agents and remain a middle of the pack team without great depth, and poor chemestry. Wait, does that sentence mean they are without poor chemestry? I because that’s not what I mean.

If I was able to attend the game I would cheer Jagr. He’s a first ballot hall of famer, helped bring two cups to Pittsburgh.  Jagr played here for 11 seasons and I loved watching him play, although I wouldn’t ask him for gambling tips. He’s absolutely the second best Penguin ever, (I say this with an eye on Sid who, if he stays healthy long enough, can definitely score 600 or so goals, and pass Jagr) Also, the Jagr trade brought in Penguin greats Kris Beech,  Michal Sivek and defenseman Ross Lupaschuk. who I think currently plays professional roller hockey in San Jose. The glory years of the Post Jagr Penguins.

New York is bound to break out of its funk soon. Hopefully it won’t be tonight.  Recently the Rangers allowed three goals to the Ottawa Senators in 53 seconds. I’m assuming the Penguins will be able to score at that pace for an entire game and win 68-0 against #68 and the Rangers.

I hope Fleury stays hot.

Here is some amazing fantasy hockey advice I found online: “Alex Ovechkin is a good option at left wing.”  Thanks for that sportsillustrated.com

Last weks ESPN the magazine contained what seem like a 32 page, removable fantasy basketball pull-out that could be removed and folded into a 1/10 th scale replica of the Federal court house where Tim Donaghay is testifying.  I hate the NBA, and the way ESPN avoids even mentioning the NHL. I realize they have a product to push, and that fantasy sports increase viewer-ship and make more games interesting but man I’m tired of this crap.  I play inmultiple fantasy football leagues, and Rich and I co-manage a fantasy hockey team, but all the fantasy info and crap boils down basically to this: draft the best players, cross your fingers that they don’t get hurt. If you need a replacement, draft a guy who is playing against a bad team.   If you are thin at a position, watch games with your lap-top handy so you can pick guys up off the waiver wire quicker than the other guys in the league who are ten beers deep, or at the sports bar. There, that’s it, where can I sign up  to be a fantasy sports guru?

The Penguins will win 7-3. Ryan Malone thinks he’s playing against the Islanders and records a hat trick. Fans Boo Jagr.
