The Wild One

It’s Halloween. Why am I blogging? Why aren’t I out Halloweening it up? Why didn’t I Halloween it up the past two weekends? Because that’s how much I care! I am living, eating, and sleeping Penguins for y’all out in internet land.

Now listen, I didn’t ask for this life, and it sure as hell isn’t the life I’m looking for, but it’s the one I got so let’s make the best of it before my pizza gets here and I start watching The Simpsons TreeHouse of Horror episodes.

Last night, versus the Minnesota Not Really the North Stars but actually the Wild, the Penguins played a solid road game en route to a 4-2 victory. Minnesota high flyer Marion Gaborik was out, yes, that is true. I don’t care if Minnesota’s line up was the cast of Good Times, it was a solid win.

Dany Sabourin gave the Penguins another solid effort in goal, and while Fleury is the man, Sabu has to stay in net against the Avalanche tomorrow night.

Evgeni Malkin had a multi-goal game. Not surprising with the effort he’s been giving. He looked inspired, and brought his game, and has been bringing his game most of the season. His second goal was a doozy, a cannon launched one timer that found the back of the net before Muhammad Ali found his underpants. I don’t even know what that last line meant, just go with it.

Look out, look out. Sidney Crosby had a four point night, figuring in on every Penguins goal. He ended up with a goal and three assists. While the line of Crosby, Malkin, and Malone is putting all the eggs in one basket, it’s making things happen for the Penguinos, and Michel Therrien would be wise to keep it together.

It’s a good win because the Penguins mighty offense finally overpowered a team that plays a stifiling defense. Jaques Lemaire plays a system tighter than a Rocky Balboa fist. The Penguins played a solid defensive effort, differing from their normal defensive style that is looser than my last girlfriend.

So yeah, that’s it. Tomorrow I will be writing about Ryan Smyth. If I’m lucky, I’ll get him to cry.
