Hot Mess in Hotlanta

Nothing went right last night for the Penguins in the Atl. The capital of the “dirty south,” has been a house of horrors for the Pens over the past couple of years.

Obviously exhausted, the Penguins were totally outgunned. That punk, Kovalchuk pointed at the Pens bench again, and listlessly, the Penguins did not respond.

Ruutu attempted to lay a body check on Kovalchuk along the boards that Ilya avoided. Well, almost. By avoiding it, he turned it into a knee on knee situation and left the ice. Because of this and his reputation, Ruutu was given a 5 minute major for kneeing and a 10 minute game misconduct. He also received 5 minutes for fighting, despite not dropping his gloves and taking a beating from some scrub coming to the defense of Kovalchuk.

The Pens were down 2-0, when we all thought Tim Brent scored his first NHL goal. It was disallowed, as the war room in Toronto decided that he kicked it in. If the Pens make it 2-1, the game takes on a completely different tone. Yet, the Pens did not, and the game got out of hand.

Ty Conklin was chased in the third, and future Wheeling Nailer Dany Sabourin came in for relief.

There was a goal by Ryan Whitney, but it was too little too late.

The injury walrus is taking its toll on the team, no doubt. The Penguins from this point on will have to scrap and scrape and claw there way for every point in the standinds. Hopefully, they can keep treading water until Crosby comes back and they can make a late season playoff push and go into the post season surging.
